Types of Zulu Beadwork

Zulu people wear beads in many different ways, each with its own special meaning:

  • Isicholo – A large beaded hat worn by married women as a symbol of respect and maturity.
  • Iqoyi – Beaded necklaces worn by men to show status or as part of a warrior’s outfit.
